One system, floor to office

One job. One thread. Quote to paid.

Most jobs live in six places that never agree. In Quent, every order has one thread — a hand-off is a step, not a phone call and a hope. Pick a stage.

Estimator

02 / 07

Auto-estimating

The email asks. Quent drafts the estimate.

Customers say what they want, not what you call it. Quent matches it to your catalogue, builds routed, priced lines, and drops a draft in your estimate queue.

From — purchasing@ridgeway-outfitters.com · 08:41

Morning — we need 250 tri-fold brochures for the spring open house, same stock as the ones you did for us in March, plus 2 pull-up banners for the entrance. Open house is the 18th so we'd need them the week before. Can you also do them with that satin finish we talked about?

Thanks — Dana, Ridgeway Outfitters

Asks

“Satin finish” isn't in your catalogue. Satin AQ and Soft-touch laminate are close — so it asks instead of guessing.

Nothing sent. Nothing quoted.Estimator reviews, then sends.

Your catalogue rules

Not in your list? It asks. It never guesses.
Near-ties get named, not picked.

Two readers. Your pick.

Claude, or Quent's own reader with no AI model at all.
Nothing silently swaps one for the other.

It learns from the send

When an estimator fixes a draft, it keeps the fix.
No ratings, no thumbs-up. Sending is the signal.

What's inside

Every part of the shop, on one floor plan.

Click any module for a quick demo. 18 modules, 15 you can switch off — run what you need, keep your other tools for the rest.

Also in the box: scheduled reports, automated preflight, gang runs, a floor wall display and financial statements.

Shipped into the alpha recently

  • 01“Same as last time.” Reuse any line a customer's been quoted, re-priced at today's costs.
  • 02A no-AI request reader. Claude or Quent's own matcher — your call, per shop.
  • 03Your words for the work. Teach Quent your finishes and decorations, and see what each one matched.
  • 04Ten standard cartons, inside, outside and empty weight — freight quoted on the real box.
  • 05A spreadsheet for every Setup tab. Out to Excel and back, headers in your words.
  • 06Price rules. Minimums, bands, terms and price books — every quote shows which rule moved the number.

The floor

Print once. Scan the rest.

A released job's ticket prints once, at the machine running its first step — one sheet, not one at every bench. Every station after that runs off its own screen.

  • Autoprint, or print from the office. A terminal locked to a press prints its tickets with no clicks. No printer there? The office prints that machine's tickets from the print queue in one go.
  • After that, the screen is the instruction. Each station's queue shows what to run, how many, settings, proof and materials. Tap Start, tap Complete.
  • Barcodes optional. Scan the sheet or tap Start — either way, real run time is logged against the quoted standard.
  • Nothing runs unapproved. The proof rides the ticket, and approval is what releases the job.
  • Small jobs share a sheet. Gang runs pool work by stock and size into a press-ready imposed PDF.

Works with what you already run

Keep the tools you trust. Quent plugs into them.

Adopt Quent one module at a time — switch one off and keep the tool you have. Accounting, say: keep the books in Quent, or hand your bookkeeper one journal entry per period.

Accounting

Export a period to
QuickBooks · or a CSV for Xero or your accountant
…or keep the books in Quent: real double entry, P&L and balance sheet.

Shipping

Check addresses, rate and track via
EasyPost — UPS, FedEx, USPS
…or use your own rate card and log tracking yourself.

Email

Quotes, proofs, invoices and POs sent
under your shop's name
…and customers approve from a link. No account needed.

Your data

Bring customers, vendors, stock and every Setup tab in by
CSV · take any report out the same way
…no export fee, and nothing held hostage if you leave.

The API

Your storefront can post an order straight onto the floor.

One narrow, versioned API. An order posted to it becomes an ordinary job — routed, scheduled, ticketed and invoiced.

Three signed events come back, so your store can update the buyer without polling.

  • Test keys run the whole path and create nothing
  • HMAC-SHA256 signatures, six attempts over ~8.5 hours
  • Every delivery logged with its response, and replayable by hand

Estimating

A quote that reconciles to the job it becomes.

Every line traces to a rate, a material and a machine. The price you quote is what the job costs — nothing shifts when it becomes a work order.

  • Priced to your presses. Makeready, click, ink, run speed and spoilage.
  • Your rules, not ours. Minimums, bands, terms and price books — each line shows which rule moved it, and warns below cost.
  • “Same as last time.” Reuse any past line whole, at today's costs, with last time's price beside it.
  • Approve online, become a job. The work order writes itself.

Your words

Quent calls things what your shop calls them.

“Job” and “press” suit a printer, not a sign shop. Rename eight nouns once and every screen follows — kiosk, ticket, customer quote, spreadsheet headers.

Nouns, not departments. Call an estimate a bid and Estimating keeps its name — nobody needs a screen called “Line Itemsing”.

Questions

The things shops ask first.

Do we have to move everything into Quent?

No. Switch off any module and keep the tool you already use — accounting and shipping included.

Can it really quote from an email?

It drafts. The request becomes a draft estimate in your queue, with questions for anything it couldn't match. A person sends every quote. Read with Claude, or Quent's own no-AI matcher.

What kind of shops is Quent for?

Five estimating profiles: commercial print, wide format, apparel, promo products and general job shop — so nobody quoting shirts gets asked about press sheets. Quote it, run it, invoice it? Quent fits.

Can we call things what we call them?

Yes — job, part, estimate, quote, order, customer, machine and shop. Rename once; it changes everywhere.

How are seats counted?

Office staff are seats. Floor operators are free and unlimited. Customers never count.

Can our website send us orders?

Yes. API orders become ordinary jobs, and three signed events (released, shipped, invoiced) keep your site updated. No storefront of our own yet — it's on the roadmap.

Do we need new hardware on the floor?

No. The kiosk runs in any browser, tickets print on your printer, and a phone camera scans.

How long is onboarding?

Weeks, not months. We load your customers, materials and presses so estimates price right on day one, then train the floor. One-time fee: $1,500 Single Shop, $3,500 Full Floor, $5,000 Trade.

What does priority support include?

On Trade: a first response within 4 business hours by email, Monday–Friday 8am–6pm ET — plus dedicated account support. Single Shop and Full Floor get email support, answered by the next business day.

quintessence · /kwin ˈtesəns/ · noun

The fifth essence. Not one of the other four — the one they were all for.

Cyan, magenta, yellow, black print anything. None of them know what the job cost, where it is, or whether it shipped. The fifth one isn't an ink.

Quent, essentially.

See it on your floor.

30 minutes. One of your real jobs, quote to invoice.
